History of the
SCPI Golf &Tennis Tournament
The SCPI Golf and Tennis Tournament was first organized in 1974
as a day where those associated with the petroleum industry in
Southern California would get together for fun and industry
relationship building. The $3,500 raised from that first tournament
was given to an industry crusader's family, following his long and
expensive bout with cancer, to help them pay the medical expenses.
In the early days, the tournament was known as the Touhey
Tournament, in honor of that industry crusader.
After all the bills were paid, the event continued, and funds raised
were transitioned to support the Boy Scouts of America, San Gabriel
Chapter. For the past fifteen years all revenues in excess of
expenses have been donated to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta
Foundation. Over the years we have donated in excess of over
$1,280,000 to help others.
